Summary | In many clinical areas, sex and gender aspects are increasingly being taken into account under the term "sex and gender sensitive medicine". This concerns a wide range of medical topics such as aspects of health attitudes, the manifestation of diseases, the selection of medicines and supportive measures (exercise therapy, patient training, psychotherapy). The pharmaceutical industry recently started to analyse sex and gender differences within clinical trials and list the results in the expert information.
Particularly due to the ever more complex pharmacotherapeutic treatment, the sex/gender aspect has been analysed in many sub-areas on the way to individualised therapy, but usually still too little attention is paid to it. Relevant aspects of sex and gender effects on therapy and medication management are presented compactly, both in general and specifically for some disease areas. |
